Meet our Scholar Council

Congratulations to our Upper Academy scholars who ran for the 2022-23 Scholar Council.  We look forward to all the great work you will do to help us continue to grow and make Galapagos a special place.

Scholar Council President-  My favorite thing about Galapagos is the different opportunities it gives to scholars and how scholars learn to be professional and how it teaches scholars to show grit drive and growth mindset in their daily life and to also cooperate it into their future. I also enjoy how the school sets the scholars mindset to know they are starting their road to college.  I wanted to join scholar council because I wanted to amplify other scholar’s opinions, put out different ideas, and make Galapagos a better school for everyone. I’d like to also grow our community and make it the best one!  I want to attend Boston University, Harvard University, or Johns Hopkins University. I want to be a lawyer and obstetrician gynecologist.

Scholar Council Vice President- My favorite thing about Galapagos is how close everyone is and all the amazing trips we get to take. I joined the scholar council because I want to help my community. I want to attend the University of Northern California and study medicine. I hope to become a doctor or a surgeon.

Scholar Council Encouragement Chair- My favorite thing about Galapagos is how many places we can go and how connected the community is.  I wanted to join scholar council because I like the idea of scholars having a place at the table making decisions.  I’m not sure where I want to go to college, but I know I want a creative arts career like visual arts or writing.

Scholar Council Treasurer- My favorite thing about Galapagos is the opportunities for intellectual pursuits provided to me through its summer programs. I joined scholar council with the intent to uplift scholar voices. I want to attend Yale university where I’ll study law and business. I’ll work as a senator before becoming governor of New York.

Scholar Council Co-Communications Chair- My favorite thing about Galapagos is the different opportunities provided to scholars and how our school demonstrates grit, drive, and growth mindset. I feel  I joined Scholar Council because I wanted to contribute my ideas and thinking to the scholar council, not only that but to participate in events. Additionally, Scholar Council gives you the opportunity to have organization and leadership skills. When I grow up I want to be in the medical field. I’m not sure what I would specifically like to pursue. I have high hopes for myself in college. I hope that with hard work I could get into a college such as Duke, Stanford, and even Harvard.

Scholar Council Co-Communications Chair- My favorite thing about Galapagos is my friends and that everyone knows everyone. I joined scholar council because I want to make scholars’ lives better. I want to be a banker when I grow up and go to Harvard.

Scholar Council Secretary – My favorite thing about Galapagos is the opportunities provided to scholars. I joined the scholar council because I felt like it was a new pathway to get involved. I want to someday be a veterinarian or a chef. I hope to attend Haverford College someday.

Scholar Council Administrative Liaison- The thing I like most about Galapagos is all the opportunities to try new things.  I wanted to join scholar council to help give scholars a voice and to give them a place where they feel heard.  I want to attend the University of Wisconsin and become a social worker.
